I’ve brought up fancity/raripants a few times on /mlp/.
No one has ever questioned my logic of it, but they present other reasons why it isn’t so popular.
Okay, those are some fair points, though his CM probably just meant that he was at the top of Canterlot. At least to me it looked like, regardless of when he became successful, he had been in that position for quite some time, enough to gain an unquestionable reputation. And his voice does matter, Fancypant's VA actually said he was asked to sound like John Cleese, better known for his roles from when he was 30-something, and to be honest his voice didn't sound like that of someone in his 20's

Though, if we’re taking voice into consideration, how old would you say Rarity based solely on her voice? Most of the fandom seems to think she is the oldest of the 6. The average estimates/headcanons I’ve seen for her throughout the fandom would put her at about 23-25 (sounds older, acts older, owns her own business, ect).
I also feel age really doesn’t not matter much between two adults. Age matters less and less as you get older. But, for the hay of it let’s plug some numbers into this dating age formula putting the males at a bit older than I think they are and putting Rarity at the youngest I feel she would be (my actual age headcanons in parenthesis)
Let’s put Rarity at 23 (24)
And Spike at 14 (12)
And Fancypants at 35 (30)
That would bring the dating ranges to
Rarity: 18.5 - 32 (19 - 34)Spike: Actually, the formula doesn’t work for anyone under 15
Fancypants: 24.5 - 56 (22 - 46)
But really, the only point I was trying to make is that the same people who are rabidly defending the ship between and ADULT and a CHILD are the folks that are bringing age difference into the equation (at least the ones mentioned in my original statement—I’m sure there are non Sparity fans that think FP is too old, too). And it is silly.
