Haha so today in speech class our teach was like “HAHA IMPROMPTU SPEECH TIME” And she throws the promt up on the board:
”___ is the best ___ EVER!!”
“Alright, you got five minutes to jot down a quick outline and then we’re presenting”
Only thing I could think of was Valve. Valvevalvevalve. Best game developer of all time.
So I went to work and barely finished scratching down my outline before we started presenting. The first several people went. Wow their outlines were really short…
“Best show because A, B, C, conclusion.”
I started getting nervous. I wrote down a lot more than that. Oh well I’mma jsut stick with it. Each presentation ended with claps from the class and the teacher callign out the next number.
My turn.
I go up there and basically gush about how amazing Valve and Gabe are. Stutter horribly and shaking like a leaf. I thought I was getting better at this public speaking thing? Why so nervous? I go on about how they updated a game for free for 5+ years, the CEO bought pizza for fans protesting outside the office, how a brand new employee was told his job description was to go home and recover from cancer, how Steam is an amazing platform for independent developers and how there is no office hierarchy and how everyone works together at the same level.
I sat down among the claps and the teacher a couple rows back goes, “Wow how did you know so much about that?”
“I love them!”
“They sound like an amazing company. A great place to work”
And thus I fangirled all over the fucking place and impressed my professor.
